Our programs are run within schools & the local community to promote social inclusion, connection, belonging and education & empowerment.
Youth Action Collective - Short Film Project works with young people across the Coffs Coast. We are developing a number of short films to show how our words can affect others.
We created a flash mob which performed in Coffs Harbour at the Sunday Jetty Markets in late May 2023 to create awareness for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
An original theatre show exploring racism and the role of the bystander, weaving real life scenarios with poetry, hip hop, film and dance. Stand Up Stand By has been created by young people from Orara High school as part of the All One Under the Sun program to address racism in schools and the broader community of Coffs Harbour.
Change the Story is a Hip Hop and cultural awareness project promoting cross cultural connection, belonging, inclusion, education and empowerment of young people.
Our pilot program worked with First Nations and Ezidi young people from both Coffs Harbour and Orara Highschools. Both groups have created and recorded original songs and film clips in collaboration with professional artists.
The songwriting collective is made up of young people from different ages and cultural backgrounds, who participated in songwriting and recording intensives with Grow The Music.
In 2021 we invited all local high schools in the Coffs Harbour LGA to nominate young people to attend a youth training day at the Botanic Gardens and be part of the Youth Action Collective. The day included an introduction to Gumbaynggirr culture, a First Nations perspective on racism, and anti-racism training presented by the Challenging Racism Project.
